Pop culture gets a bad rap. I'm fairly used to feeling guilty about loving to watch television virtually non-stop. I make no excuses for reading Entertainment Weekly and People--and enjoying them. I listen to the radio. I read mass-marketed books. My life is, what some would say, consumed with popular culture. I'd argue that it's enhanced and, yes, even invigorated by the latest water-cooler gossip about my favorite reality shows. I'll gladly argue as to whether American Idol is ruining America one bad singer at a time. Don't even get me started on Oprah. So, this is the tent where no-guilt pop culture discussion may proceed. Who knows, we might even learn something...much like those very special episodes of Tyra.

Awesome. I'd ask if there was really no change throughout the 80s, but I don't remember one. Maybe Reganomics didn't allow for that sort of thing :)
So, what's up with the Mickey Mouse ears circa 1993?
I know...I saw that too. I'm actually going to write an analysis of this soon...I'll hope to figure that out before I do...
